Starting high school is exciting—but it can also feel like a big leap. The Edge is designed to help incoming freshmen begin their Prep journey with confidence and connection.
Over four days, students will meet classmates, explore the campus, connect with Prep faculty, and discover what it means to be a Hermit. Incoming freshmen will build friendships and become part of the St. Augustine community before the first day of school even arrives through challenges, interactive activities, and friendly competitions.
Along the way, our future freshmen will learn the practical skills that successful Prep students use every day, including study strategies, note-taking techniques, time management, test preparation, and academic writing. These skills will help them navigate the increased expectations of high school and establish habits that lead to success both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, students will receive guidance and dedicated work time for their summer assignment, allowing them to make meaningful progress before the school year begins.
By the end of the week, students will know names, faces, locations, and most importantly what it feels like to belong in Richland.
The Edge is more than an academic program. It's the first opportunity to build friendships, discover a place in the Prep community, and begin high school with confidence.
