Freshman year is about finding your footing at the Prep. Sophomore year is where the climb begins.
The Ascent is a four-day academic enrichment program designed to help rising sophomores build momentum, strengthen essential skills, and confidently prepare for one of the most demanding years of their Prep journey. As coursework becomes more rigorous and expectations increase, students need more than just knowledge—they need the habits, strategies, and confidence to thrive.
During these four days, students will work with Prep faculty to strengthen effective study techniques, test-taking strategies, organizational skills, and classroom approaches that lead to long-term success. They will also receive targeted preparation in three cornerstone sophomore subjects (English, Math, and Chemistry), and have guided work time for their summer assignment, allowing them to make significant progress before the school year begins. Camp won't be all work, though-- each day will include recreation time and opportunities to relax and connect with friends.
Every successful climb begins with preparation. After a year at the Prep, students have a clearer understanding of their strengths, challenges, and goals. The Ascent helps transform self-awareness into action by providing practical tools and early exposure to key academic content.
Students will leave the program better prepared, more confident, and ready to tackle the challenges of sophomore year.
