CAMP OVERVIEW:

Our week-long camp will feature several different themes, with time periods of each day being dedicated toward each: great stroke technique, flip-turns and stroke turn progression, start progression, and race strategy. Ultimately, the coaching staff’s goal is to have our campers leave the camp with a better understanding of their strengths as a swimmer, their weaknesses as a swimmer, and how they can improve upon both. We will provide them with the tools to help them better themselves and help create a thought process that they can take with them after the camp is over and apply to their training. Director: Nick Fondacaro

Head Swimming Coach, St. Augustine Preparatory School

Nick Fondacaro ’15 serves as the Head Swimming Coach at St. Augustine Preparatory School and brings extensive experience as both a competitive swimmer and coach to the St. Augustine Prep Swimming Camp.

A proud Prep alumnus, Coach Fondacaro was a four-year member of the Hermits swimming program from 2011–2015 and served as a team captain during his senior season. His connection to the sport began well before his time at the Prep, competing for Greenwood Park Swim Club from 2006–2015 and the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club from 2007–2013.

Since taking over as Head Coach at St. Augustine Prep, Coach Fondacaro has continued the program’s tradition of excellence. The Hermits captured the Non-Public state championship in each of his first three seasons as head coach, including the program’s fourth consecutive state title in 2026. During his first two seasons, the team compiled a perfect 21–0 record and finished each year ranked No. 2 among all high school swimming programs in New Jersey. The 2024–2025 Hermits were also nationally recognized among independent-school swimming programs.

For his leadership and the team’s outstanding success, Coach Fondacaro was named the 2023–2024 Press of Atlantic City Boys Swimming Coach of the Year.

Coach Fondacaro has more than a decade of experience coaching swimmers at the youth, club, and high school levels. Prior to becoming the Head Coach at St. Augustine Prep, he coached with the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club from 2017–2023, serving as the head coach of multiple age groups. He has also served as the first assistant coach for the Greenwood Park Frogs since 2016 and is a member of the coaching staff at the South Jersey Aquatic Club.

Coach Fondacaro graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in 2020 with a degree in Business Administration. His coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, proper technique, hard work, confidence, and a genuine enjoyment of the sport. As Camp Director, he is committed to providing swimmers of all experience levels with a positive and challenging environment in which they can improve their skills, learn from experienced coaches, and develop a lasting passion for swimming.
